What do you do....

When life gets in the way of your training schedule?

I had an insanely busy few days at work this week that destroyed my running schedule. So far this week I have logged 4 miles. Pitiful I know. It is amazing how guilty I feel. There are just not enough hours in the day. On another note...I think that all retail stores should be open from 7am to 11pm. It is Saturday morning and I have a million errands to run....but nothing opens until 10am, which means I am going to miss College Gameday....not acceptable.

Florida State vs. Clemson is tonight and I can hardly wait. Although I wont be able to enjoy any alcoholic beverages while I watch the game. I have my longest training run yet tomorrow morning, 22 miles. I am planning on doing the run on the treadmill so I don't have to get up at 4am. (The gym employees really think I am nuts)

Lastly I signed up for the ING Miami Marathon yesterday. There was an offer for $10 off the registration fee and I can't resist a good deal. This race is only a few weeks after the Disney Marathon. Hopefully my body can handle it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Montana Running ???

Or…lack of running? I officially took a week off from running during our vacation to Big Sky, Montana. Not that I wanted to… I just didn’t want to get eaten by a bear. I was told what to do if I saw one and had bear spray...but  wasn’t very confident in my ability to actually use it. We did get some physical activity in during the trip though, which I typically don’t do on vacation. I am usually laying out drinking pina coladas all day and return home weighing 5 pounds more than I did before I left. I am happy to say I actually lost weight on this vacation. Shocking right???

Here is a little recap of what we did with some pictures.

Saturday- Arrived in Big Sky. Our house was AMAZING!

Sunday- Yellowstone- Short 3 mile walk/hike with my sister in law Erin. We climbed a little way up  the side of a mountain to get some better pictures, which was the highlight of the day and well worth the danger!

Monday- Yellowstone Again- we visited the lower falls,Yellowstone Canyon and did a hike around the North side of the canyon…about 3 miles. This is by far my favorite part of Yellowstone.

Tuesday- 7.5 Mile horseback ride to a lake for the guys to fish and then 7.5 miles back. Boy was this an experience. My horse Randi was a rule breaker and liked to lead me off the trail. I don’t think we were a good match….but either way we all had fun and were really sore the next day.

Wednesday- 6 Mile round trip hike to Lava Lake- This was my favorite hike. It was really challenging…but the view at the top was well worth it.

Thursday- MY BIRTHDAY!!! 6 Mile round trip hike to Beehive Basin. This one was also really challenging, but without the reward at the top. The lake was pretty pitiful, but either way we enjoyed the exercise. Then we did a second 1.8 Mile round trip hike to Ousel falls. This was an easy hike and the falls were great….it was literally right around the corner from our house. Amazing how different things are out west. We had my birthday dinner at a restaurant called Bucks T-4. I just love that name for some reason.

Friday- Trip to the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole- No Exercise! But….Jackson Hole was great, I wish we could have stayed longer.

We had an amazing trip and I can’t wait to go back!!!! I highly recommend visiting the area if you haven’t. I never thought I would enjoy it so much...I have never been on a non-beach vacation.

One last picture....yes I am this close to a buffalo. Crazy right?
